Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi and midfielder Adam Wharton both missed the team’s FA Cup celebration party after being taken to hospital.

England centre-back Guehi was substituted in the second half of his side’s 1-0 victory over Manchester City at Wembley after taking a blow to the eye as Palace secured their first major trophy.

The 24-year-old was still able to lead his team up the Wembley steps to lift the trophy after the final whistle and celebrate with his team-mates on the pitch.

However, Guehi was then taken to hospital in an ambulance after the game amid concerns he had suffered a fractured eye socket while the defender also complained of slight loss of sight.

It is understood tests have indicated Guehi has avoided a fracture but sustained severe bruising – though it remains to be seen if he can play in Palace’s final two Premier League matches.

Guehi should be available for England’s fixtures versus Andorra and Senegal on 7 and 10 June.

He spent the night in hospital before being discharged at around midnight which meant he had to miss the team’s celebration party at Boxpark, just a stone’s throw from Wembley Stadium.

Guehi’s England team-mate Wharton also missed the team’s post-match party.

He was sent to hospital for concussion checks after he was hit on the back of the head by a fierce shot from Kevin de Bruyne.

And the midfielder posted a photo of himself in a hospital robe on his Instagram account late on Saturday night.
