Paddy Pimblett has surged into the top 10 of the UFC’s lightweight rankings for the first time after his win over Michael Chandler on Saturday.

The Liverpudlian stopped Chandler in an emphatic performance at UFC 314, securing the biggest victory of his MMA career to date.

Pimblett has risen from 12th position to number eight in the rankings thanks to the win.

The 30-year-old called out a host of names in his post-fight interview, including top contenders Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje, as well as former champion Charles Oliveira.

“Anyone in the top five, I want that world title. All laugh as you want and say I’ll never be ranked, I’ll never be in the top 10, but what now you gang of mushrooms?” Pimblett said.

Sitting ahead of Pimblett in the rankings are many of his call-outs as well as number one contender Arman Tsarukyan.

Tsarukyan, 28, was set to fight reigning champion Islam Makhachev in January before a back injury forced him to withdraw.

Makhachev could face former UFC featherweight champion Ilia Topuria, who recently vacated his title to move up in weight.
